After reaching out to Niamh on Facebook and receiving a message on the group page from whatyamacallit we decided to have a meeting in Second Life to start our assignment together. The first thing we did in the meeting was go through the brief and divide the four sections of the assignment between us. This relates back to Sitearms presentation as throughout his presentation he stated the importance of knowing your role within a group and also knowing what everyone else’s role within the group is . This relates to our team working skills as by dividing the questions up everybody is fully aware of the aspect of the assignment that they have to research and we are also aware of what the other people in the group have to research therefore by splitting up the questions from the beginning it is an effective use of our time as everyone is not researching the same thing. everyone has their own aspects to concentrate on therefore being effective wth our time management.
The next topic discussed was how we where planning to present our assignment. We discussed several forms of presentation In the end Niamh suggested a Pecha kucha type presentation. This style uses pictures and visuals with no words, its a style of presenting where the are 20 slides that last for 20 seconds, This format agreed to by everyone in the group as we felt it was a unique form of presentation.
Our final topic discussed in this meeting was we had a discussion about what would be the best way to communicated with each other. We dicided to steer away from the usual forms such as Facebook messager or whatsapp, Whatyamacallit suggested that we could use the program called ‘Go to meeting’ she said she uses it with work and said it was a very easy and effective way of communicating as a group online as in the program you can chat over the mic, text speak and add in files which would be useful when we are setting up the slides. She said she will set up a meeting for us next Monday at 6 30 where we will discuss our research findings.
So far i feel we are working well together. the jobs within the group have been divided up evenly and fairly and i feel we communicate well together as each persons ideas are listened to and taken into consideration when we are making decisions.
